A Landscape/Nursery Technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET). Lisa A. Beehler, Williamsport, won the Chapel Valley/Reeve Family Scholarship during the recent ?Student Career Days? held March 19-22 at the University of Maryland.
Two graphic communications students at Pennsylvania College of Technology were awarded $2,000 scholarships recently from the Flexographic Technical Association. Mark A. Blanchard, Watsontown, and John R. Yogodzinski III, Harvey's Lake RR 1, were selected from more than 40 applicants during the Flexographic Technical Association Annual Forum held in Orlando, Fla.
On Wednesday night, the Student Government Association announced the results fromlast week's four-day online election. "We had an outstanding turnout, with nearly 10 percentof the student body voting this year − up from only 2 percentlast year," noted Joshua Appleman, SGA's academic vice president and election chair.
One hundred percent of the 2004 graduates of the Occupational Therapy Assistant major at Pennsylvania College of Technology passed their certification exam − a performance consistent with previous graduates of the program.
Joshua M. Yost, in his final year as a Collision Repair Technology major, has been selected by the Student Government Association as March's "Student of the Month" at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Yost, from Cochranton, received six nominations all from supportive faculty in the School of Transportation Technology for his campus leadership and support of fellow students.
On Thursday, nearly all Penn College aviation students freshman through senior gathered at the Lumley Aviation Center to attend presentations from Skybolt Aerospace Fasteners and Solutia Inc. Sam Mazzotta of Skybolt (in left photo) described quick-release fasteners used in the aviation industry, as well as a history of fasteners and latest developments in fastener technology.
Campus View's Matthew S. Kelleher recently was named Penn College's "Resident Assistant of the Month." Kelleher, a junior from Bellefonte majoring in Business Technology Management, has been an RA for a little over a year. He was encouraged to apply for the position by a former Resident Assistant, Maurice Freeman, who also was his roommate.
Seven students at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been awarded scholarships for Spring 2005 from the Williamsport Hospital Campus of Susquehanna Health System. Receiving one-year, full-tuition scholarships are: Kirk D. Evans, South Williamsport, a Nursing student; and Rebecca Weaver, Williamsport, who is enrolled in the Physician Assistant major.
All of the August 2004 graduates of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Practical Nursing certificate major who took their licensing exam before Dec. 31 have passed the test, according to the State Board of Nursing. In addition, the College's passing rate for all of the year's Nursing graduates who took their licensing exams in 2004 exceeded the passing rate for the entire state.
A heating, ventilation and air-conditioning student at Pennsylvania College of Technology will represent the United States during the 2005 World Skills Competition to be held May 26-29 in Helsinki, Finland. Shawn A.
