The three-man team of Dallas Shuman, Uriah Pierce and Mike Kershner was the grand-prize winner in the Fitness Center Challenge, losing a total of 33.5 pounds of fat over the course of the contest. Each team member receives a refund of his Fitness Center semester membership (an $80 value). The contest started Feb.

The Office of Residence Life held its annual end-of-the-year banquet Sunday and honored Nathaniel L. Baum as "Resident Assistant of the Year." Baum, a technology management major from Elizabethtown and an RA at Penn College for the past three years, was honored for his long track record as a solid performer.

A new scholarship fund will benefit students enrolled in Pennsylvania College of Technology's bachelor-degree major in construction management. The college's Construction Management (BCM) Advisory Committee finalized an agreement recently with the Penn College Foundation to establish the Construction Management (BCM) Annual Scholarship.

Six students in the registered-nurse associate-degree major recently participated in the second-annual Nursing Student Challenge at College Misericordia. Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold two commencement ceremonies May 14 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport for the nearly 900 students who have petitioned to graduate this month. Ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. for graduates from the Schools of Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, and Business and Computer Technologies and at 2 p.m.

As of July 1, (or maybe earlier), the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare will make some important changes in the guidelines for subsidized child day care. These changes will make it much easier for college students to qualify for assistance with their child-care costs.

College West's "Track Your Trash" recycling program held a final weigh-in this past Tuesday. The program, run by Resident Assistants Patrick Butler and Erin Scott, collected 1,367 pounds of recycled materials from 12 separate apartments throughout the complex from February to April.

The Student Government Association recentlyannounced the results of its 2004-05 SGA Cup competition, in which student organizations receive points for attending campus activities and SGA meetings. The SGA Cup competition promotes participation in the Penn College co-curricular experience. Any recognized Penn College group, club or organization was eligible to compete.
