Members of Penn College's Students in Free Enterprise team attended a regional competition in Philadelphia on April 12, orally presenting their annual report to a panel of corporate executives.
After winning at district competition, a team of Pennsylvania College of Technology students earned a spot in the ISA International Student Games to be held in Chicago in October. The students, enrolled in electronics technology and electronics engineering technology majors, are members of the student chapter of the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society at Penn College.

The applied-technology focus at Pennsylvania College of Technology has paid off for many of its graduates who are now working in the field they studied. Among those are alumni of the graphic-design and advertising-art majors, who returned to the campus on April 14 to show current students the kind of work their education has helped them to pursue.
Tiffany L. Joyner of Stewartstown, who will graduate next month with an associate's degree in nursing, has been chosen as April's "Student of the Month" by the Student Government Association. Active with the Student Nurses' Association, she also is a member and past secretary of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society for two-year students.
A new scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology aims to assist students in the college's heavy construction equipment technology-technician major. The Groff Tractor and Equipment Inc./CASE Corporation Scholarship announced this week will provide a $1,500 award to a Penn College student each year, beginning in the Fall 2005 semester. Marie G. Smith, assistant professor of dental hygiene (center in photo at left), joined a group of students at their on-campus residence for an evening of making baked nuts using her favorite recipe. The activity was considered a study break for the students as they prepare for today's practical portion of their Dental Hygiene board exam.
Wendy Mertzeis, a Resident Assistant at Rose Street Apartments, recently was named Penn College's "Resident Assistant of the Month." A junior from Tionesta, majoring in Web Design, she is in her first year as a Resident Assistant.
Three students from Pennsylvania College of Technology brought home first-place medals in competition at this week's Pennsylvania SkillsUSA Conference in Lancaster, qualifying them to compete in the national SkillsUSA Championships in Kansas City, Mo., in June.
National Alcohol Screening Day, aimed at informing students about the signs and symptoms of alcohol problems, will be observed at Penn College from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, April 7.
