A Forest Technology alumnus' impressive finish in this year's Stihl Timbersports Collegiate Invitational has resulted in a $1,000 donation to the Forestry Club at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Derek P. Bailey of New Tripoli, who graduated from Penn College in May, placed fifth overall during the Aug.

A group of seven Penn College students, along with two faculty members, visited the corporate headquarters of PPL Telcom in Allentown on Wednesday, Nov. 17. The group was hosted by Tony Vasco, regional sales manager, and Charles Boddy, director of marketing.

The Plastics Pioneers Association has awarded $1,500 scholarships to two students enrolled in Pennsylvania College of Technology's Plastics and Polymer Engineering Technology bachelor-degree major. The association awarded 15 scholarships to college students nationwide who are working toward careers in plastics.

Tara L. Martin, athird-year Dental Hygiene-Health Policy and Administration major from Bressler (Dauphin County), has been chosen as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for November.

For the second time, a May trip to Japan will offer Penn College students the opportunity to study in another country for a short period and to earn course credits for their participation. An information session on the short-term study-abroad programs to be offered this summer which also includes trips to Australia and France is slated from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.

Students who are enrolled in a bachelor-degree program and are eligible for a SciTech Scholarship must complete a College-approved internship before graduating. The internship must be related to the student's major for which the scholarship has been awarded. The scholarship will revert to a loan if the student fails to complete the internship.

The Penn College student chapter of the Society of Plastics Engineers heldits first-ever "World Series of Pool" tournament recently. The16 participants played single-elimination 8-ball in the fund-raising event. Student Elliott Marchioni, the first-place finisher, won $35 for hisefforts.

Students are reminded of Williamsport's PennPass program, which provides free City Bus transportation along fixed routes and to the Earth Science Center south of main campus upon presentation of a valid student ID. Links to the service also are accessible online.

An Air Force C-17 arrived at Williamsport Regional Airport on Thursday, affording Penn College aviation students the opportunity to tour the aircraft and interact with its crew. The newest cargo aircraft in the Air Force's inventory, the C-17 designed for rapid delivery of troops and cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in a military deployment area.

Students fromRichard C. Taylor's ACR 127 (Prints, Drawings and Specifications) class toured the Fairfield Inn construction site Thursday. Prior to walking across Maynard Street from campus, the class viewed blueprints of the building, paying special attention to the foundation, floor plans, utility entrances, HVAC and plumbing plans.
