Pennsylvania College of Technology Athletics has partnered with Lids Team Sports to have Nike become the official provider of uniforms, footwear and equipment for its intercollegiate athletic teams. Josh Longsderff Senior Josh Longsderff, of Columbia, has been named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 13. Longsderff captured two of the team’s six wins on the week, including a complete-game shutout against Penn State York. In his seven innings of work, he allowed just three hits, no walks and struck out 10.
The Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball team won four of its five games last week while its softball team went 0-2 and men’s tennis squad 1-1. Arika J. Stopper Penn College freshman Arika J. Stopper, of Williamsport, has been named the Penn State University Athletic Conference ‘Pitcher of the Week’ for the period ending April 6. In the team’s 6-0 win against Penn State Hazleton, Stopper – a health arts: practical nursing emphasis student – pitched a three-hit, complete-game shutout while striking out seven.
Zachary A. Weil Penn College junior Zachary A. Weil, of Kutztown, has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and Penn State University Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for the period ending April 6. In the team’s 4-3 week, Weil hit .389 (7-18) and drove in in 12 runs.
Golfer-turned-head-coach Matthew Haile helped his team stay undefeated and capture conference championships. In 2003, he was the conference individual champion – the first since 1982. During Adam Waigand’s tenure, the Wildcats soccer team achieved a 55-14-1 record and a 2004 conference championship. An All-State selection, he helped the defense record 15 shutouts in his last two years.
Pennsylvania College of Technology spring sports teams posted a combined 5-6 week and the college announced the naming of its first full-time head coach. Baseball Penn College opened Penn State University Athletic Conference play on Monday with a twin-bill loss to Penn State Greater Allegheny, 5-4 in eight innings and 5-0.
