During the recent Homecoming 2010 activities, Pennsylvania College of Technology presented Outstanding Varsity Athletic Alumni Awards to Amber L. Dreese, of Williamsport, and Matthew R. Haile, of Sunbury. Dreese graduated in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in applied human services.

Six Pennsylvania College of Technology golfers will vie for individual and team honors Monday and Tuesday in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association championships.

The freshmen/sophomore team came into Friday's Homecoming Powder Puff Football game with only 12 players, a week of organized practice, new coaches and huge hearts. The older team dominated the game from the start, but not once did any player or coach from the underclasses complain, get upset or stop trying, said intramural assistant Jeremy R.

The key to winning championships is peaking at the right time, and Pennsylvania College of Technology golf coach Matt Haile said there's no better time to do so than now. "We started off pretty strong with a win at our home course, but Mont Alto was ahead of us by several strokes (after that) and we were consistent with taking second.

Thursday's inaugural Homecoming Flag Football Game, a matchup between a freshman/sophomore team and its junior/senior counterpart, predictably offered ample excitement for players and spectators alike. Jeremy R.

An inch might as well be a mile and second place might as well be last. That is the competitive spirit that Pennsylvania College of Technology archer Danny Wido, of Shickshinny, brings to the game.

Freshman Chris Brennan, of New Hope, was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's "Co-Player of the Week" for the period ending Oct. 3. Brennan who graduated from New Hope/Solebury High School compiled an impressive week, with five goals and one assist, to help lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 record. He scored the game-winners against Salem International and Penn State Mont Alto.

The Penn College women's volleyball team helped raise awareness of breast cancer in a weekend match that also honored its lone graduating senior. The team (with the help of Kristi L. Hammaker, health and fitness specialist; volleyball coach Bambi A. Hawkins and assistant coach Amber L.

Over the past week, Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams posted a combined 14-0 won-lost mark.

Freshman Tristan Smith was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 26. Smith,from Bermuda,scored the game-winner against No. 7-ranked Washington Adventist and scored a total of four goals and one assist on the week to help his team go 4-0. Smith has seven goals on the season, second on the team in 10 games.
