It looked like it was going to be a long afternoonat the Penn College vs. Lycoming College softball game, even though a Wildcat intramural team began by scoring four runs in the first inning on home runs by Evan Greene and Brandon Sauers and hits by Ben Vincent, Greg Solyak, Chris Bunda and John Kulick.
Third-baseman Amber J. Claar, scheduled to graduate next month with a degree in health information technology, was honored during a Senior Day ceremony at Tuesday's women's softball game at Elm Park.
The fifth annual Women in Sports Day attended by more than 65 coaches, athletes, prospects, Athletics staff and special guests was held Sunday in Penn's Inn. What was expected to be a great volleyball match between the Staff/Faculty team Kim Bolig, Amber Dreese, Dan Bennett, Jim Cunningham, Andy Gutkowski, Elliott Strickland and Dan Warner and the student squad of Gavin Mock, Ben Vincent, Brian Brown, Brad Bell, Ashley Matson, Tara Powell and Annie Styles clearly lived up to the hype.

Penn College sophomore Ethan Boyd, an HVAC technology student from Roaring Spring, was named the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference baseball "Playerof the Week." Boyd went 2-for-4 with the Wildcats,tallying a home run and two RBI, against Penn State Harrisburg on March 21.
Its men's archery team long has been a powerhouse in national competition, and Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic officials are hoping an infusion of grant money will equip the Wildcat women to compete at the same level.
