Information Technology Services announces availability of the Wildcat Wireless VPN system − virtual private network technology that adds a layer of security protection to wireless communications. A small VPN client software program is installed on your notebook PC that works with the college network to encrypt all your wireless communications.

Congratulations to Justin Wilcott, winner of The Bistro's renaming contest. Wilcott's suggestion of "CC Commons" will be the new name of the dining unit that will be open in the fall in the current Bistro area. For his idea,he received a $350 declining-balance meal plan for the Fall 2005 semester.

But unless you're connected to the Penn College Library, you don't know what you're missing. "Contrary to popular belief, everything is not on the Internet," reports Georgia Laudenslager, reference and outreach librarian at the college.

The American Red Cross was pleased with the turnout for Wednesday's Bloodmobile at the Bush Campus Center, where a total of 146 individuals registered to give blood and 117 pints were collected. There were 35 first-time donors and, although the goal was not met, every pint collected goes to saving another life.

The funeral was Monday for Richard C. Mason II, a CAD Technology specialist with Workforce Development& Continuing Education, who died Wednesday, Dec. 8. A member of the Penn College family for more than 11 years, he also served as an instructor in the School of Construction and Design Technologies.

This year's holiday card-decorating winners were announced atthe Dec. 1lighting ceremony outside the ATHS. The American Welding Society won first prize among student groups, followed by Phi Beta Lambda and, in a tie for third, Campus Crusade for Christ and the Student Government Association.
