Two construction students at Pennsylvania College of Technology have collaborated on a "dream" project that will help local nursing-home residents better exercise their green thumbs. Bradley D. Martin, a construction carpentry major from Granville Summit, and Jacob D. Carlson, a cabinetmaking and millwork student from West Chester, recently built three planter boxes and accompanied by Marc E.

On Sunday, June 1, Birch B. Phillips Jr. and Annmarie Phillips were presented with the Directors Chair Award by the Community Arts Center Board of Directors. The Directors Chair Award is presented annually to recognize and honor individuals who have had a significant impact on the success of the Community Arts Center.

Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's mass media communication major completed video projects for local nonprofit organizations during the Spring 2008 semester.

Seeking to enhance its students' overall college experience and recognizing the constructive characteristics of membership in fraternal organizations, Pennsylvania College of Technology has added a Greek component to its campus-life opportunities.

One national champion, four All-Americans, six conference champions and three conference runners-up: it has been one of the greatest years ever for Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams, which collectively won 207 of 293 games, a .706 winning percentage.

This month's Walk-It-Out event, in which about 225 participants collected pledges and strode around Penn College's Athletic Field, raised nearly $7,500 for the American Cancer Society. Michael J. Hersh, assistant director for programming in the Student Activities Office, said the event has raised $7,423 to date (and donations still are being accepted in hopes of hitting $8,000).

The School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies will host afree summer camp from Wednesday, June 11-Friday, June 13. This three-day camp will introduce students entering ninth and 10th grades to a variety of engineering technology careers.

Williamsport − and Pennsylvania College of Technology's Community Arts Center − have been selected as the venue for the 2008 Governor's Awards for the Arts on Nov. 12. The announcement was made Thursday afternoon at the Arts Center by Judge Marjorie O. Rendell, Pennsylvania's First Lady, who will serve as emcee for the ceremonies.

The Office of Residence Life recently engaged in a community-service project with Grace Street Commons an assisted living facility in Williamsport. Paraprofessional staff members spent an evening with the elderly engaging participants in jewelry making, crafts, baking cookies and assembly of a curio cabinet.
