'Walk-It-Out' Event Raises Nearly $7,500 for Cancer Society

Teams register for Walk-It-Out Some of the more than 200 walkers round the bend ''Pretty in Pink' turns out in force 'Pretty in Pink 2' shows off its handmade T-shirts This month's Walk-It-Out event, in which about 225 participants collected pledges and strode around Penn College's Athletic Field, raised nearly $7,500 for the American Cancer Society. Michael J. Hersh, assistant director for programming in the Student Activities Office, said the event has raised $7,423 to date (and donations still are being accepted in hopes of hitting $8,000). The team that raised the most money overall, $850, is the AdminiStriders. Among teams with eight members or fewer, the three that raised the most money and will win a pizza party are: Wildcat Events Board ($562), Pretty in Pink ($525) and Nosh Pit Girls ($475). The following teams are part of the $300 Club, collecting pledges of at least that much toward the fight against cancer: Gatorade, SHRM, WEB, Pretty in Pink, Difference Makers, Penn College Police, Student Activities, AdminiStriders, Phi Theta Kappans and Nosh Pit Girls.
