“Black and white photography is alive and well!” heralded Mark W. Wilson, instructor of graphic design at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Proving the point, Wilson’s Fine Art Photography (PHO 210) class is exhibiting works on the second floor of The Madigan Library.

Third-year architecture students created and, on Thursday, presented their final projects: physical mockups developed from the best-drawn wall sections created using SketchUp design software. "A great experience it was," said Rob A. Wozniak, associate professor of architecture, whose 18 students in his Detailing & Applications class (BSD 340) were divided into three teams.

A collaborative exhibit with The Gallery at Penn College resulted in one of numerous industry honors recently earned by the World of Little League Museum. The museum took home a program-record four ISHY Awards this year, as presented by the International Sports Heritage Association, for its creative content marking the 75th anniversary of the Little League Baseball World Series.

A renowned printmaker whose multicolor intaglio prints are in museums around the world is sharing his work through Dec. 1 in The Gallery at Penn College. Yuji Hiratsuka’s “Retro Urban Mode” exhibit showcases his whimsical and satirical images, crafted with his unique technique of chine collé with etching. He will also offer an artist’s talk via Zoom at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9. Registration is required and can be made at the gallery website.

Many visitors drove many miles this past Sunday to view more than 100 works of art created by area artists. The reception for “100 Miles: The 2023 Regional Juried Exhibition” drew nearly 300 art lovers to The Gallery at Penn College, a crowd that included 90 of the 101 featured artists.

“100 Miles: The 2023 Regional Juried Exhibition” opens Thursday, June 1, at The Gallery at Penn College, showcasing artwork by 101 artists living within 100 miles of the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus.

The graphic design major celebrated two significant campus events in recent days, with more than 200 people attending a reception for “Graphic Design 2023” and with nearly 100 high school students and teachers visiting Pennsylvania College of Technology for the inaugural Graphic Design Senior Project Exhibition.

“Moving the Earth, Capturing the Sun” is the title of a one-student exhibit on display in the lobby of The Gallery at Penn College. The exhibit showcases ceramics and photography by Alexis M. Burrell, a senior in graphic design at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Among the many accommodations that The Madigan Library provides students as they inch ever closer to final exams (comfy chairs, later hours, study rooms for collaborative strategizing), none is as sweet and cuddly as a stress-reduction visit from a pair of therapy dogs.

The talents of 24 graphic design seniors at Pennsylvania College of Technology will be showcased in “Graphic Design 2023,” the annual student portfolio exhibition in The Gallery at Penn College.
