Tuesday, December 12, 2023

“Black and white photography is alive and well!” heralded Mark W. Wilson, instructor of graphic design at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Proving the point, Wilson’s Fine Art Photography (PHO 210) class is exhibiting works on the second floor of The Madigan Library.

Students' black-and-white photography will be displayed on The Madigan Library's second floor through at least Feb. 27.
Students' black-and-white photography will be displayed on The Madigan Library's second floor through at least Feb. 27.

The show, which opened Dec. 12 and runs through Feb. 27 (possibly longer), features two silver gelatin prints from each of the 13 students, along with an artist’s statement. (Watch for more Penn College News coverage of the exhibit in January.)

“The work was most excellent this semester!” Wilson enthused.

The second-floor library display joins another on the first floor that showcases work by students enrolled in Digital Photography (PHO 150).

PHO 210 is designed to promote artistic development and visual literacy, as well as help each student identify, articulate and define a personal vision. There is also a technical emphasis on refining the craft of printmaking and advancing the knowledge of photographic equipment and darkroom techniques.
