The Board of Directors of the Community Arts Center announced today that Gram Slaton, who has served as Executive Director of the facility since Sept. 29, 1993, has submitted his letter of resignation from that position, in order to pursue other opportunities.
Pennsylvania College of Technology and WVIA-TV have announced that the "You're the Chef" cooking series will not tape new episodes in Summer 2005. WVIA will continue airing current-season episodes through the fall on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. Co-hosts of the show, Chef Paul Mach and Tom Speicher, are Penn College employees who have spent their summers creating new series episodes.
The Office of Residence Life held its annual end-of-the-year banquet Sunday and honored Nathaniel L. Baum as "Resident Assistant of the Year." Baum, a technology management major from Elizabethtown and an RA at Penn College for the past three years, was honored for his long track record as a solid performer.
A reception was held in the Professional Development Center on Tuesday to honor faculty and staff who participated in Residence Life programming this year. A total of 48 faculty and staff members volunteered their time this past year to share a piece of themselves with students, according to Timothy J. Mallery, director of residence life.
Pennsylvania College of Technology contributed toward meeting two specific needs for the City of Williamsport this spring − and saved the city more than $15,000 by renovating portions of the Bureau of Police facility in City Hall and providing a laptop computer for the city fire inspector.
Henriette K. Evans, Act 101 academic and career specialist in Academic Support Services, was named2004-05 "Woman of the Year" by the Junior League of Williamsport on Monday. She received the award in recognition of her outstanding service to the Junior League and its volunteer endeavors.
A new scholarship fund will benefit students enrolled in Pennsylvania College of Technology's bachelor-degree major in construction management. The college's Construction Management (BCM) Advisory Committee finalized an agreement recently with the Penn College Foundation to establish the Construction Management (BCM) Annual Scholarship.
Six students in the registered-nurse associate-degree major recently participated in the second-annual Nursing Student Challenge at College Misericordia. Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold two commencement ceremonies May 14 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport for the nearly 900 students who have petitioned to graduate this month. Ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. for graduates from the Schools of Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, and Business and Computer Technologies and at 2 p.m.
Michelle McGann, winner of seven Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour events, will be the visiting pro at the 19th Annual Golf Classic, to be hosted May 9 at the Williamsport Country Club by the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation. Net proceeds will be used to support The Penn College Foundation Golf Classic Scholarship.
