By Juli Reppert, student writer/photographer A group of 18 Pennsylvania College of Technology students had a different sort of Spring Break experience recently, joining forces with 200 other volunteers in Mississippi to rebuild homes and communities left devastated by two powerful hurricanes.
During Wednesday's Student Government Association meeting, college President Davie Jane Gilmour joined Penn College Police Chief Chris E. Miller and other Student Affairs administrators to address safety for students on campus and in Williamsport. "Your safety and security is one of the most important things to us," she told the group.
Members of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Club at Penn College hosted a "build your own sundae" event Wednesday in the Bush Campus Center lobby. Those building a sundae were asked to don goggles or use their non-dominant hand while making their ice-cream treat in order to simulate a disability.
Students at Penn College's Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville had an opportunity Tuesday to view a helicopter: the Bell 206 helicopter, based at the Williamsport Regional Airport and operated by the Pennsylvania State Police. The pilot, Trooper Chris Royles, spoke to aviation students about the helicopter's role in state police operations and answered their questions about the aircraft.

A number of questions have been raised regarding conflicting reports following an early Sunday morning shooting incident in the City of Williamsport that involved four Penn College students.The students were passengers in a car that was struck by a stray bullet while traveling on West Fourth Street at Campbell Street at 2:15 a.m.
