Pennsylvania College of Technology has launched a search to fill three academic-dean's positions by July 2001. The search has commenced for deans in the schools of Business and Computer Technologies, Industrial and Engineering Technologies and Integrated Studies. Applications are being reviewed, and the search will continue until the positions are filled.
S tate Rep. Brett O. Feese, R-84th District, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors, replacing Rep. Thomas W. Dempsey, who retired from his seat in the state House of Representatives this year. Feese, who has served in the state House since 1995, was appointed by House Speaker Matthew J. Ryan.
Four faculty chefs and eight students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will return to the Pennsylvania Farm Show, the nation's leading indoor agricultural showcase, for a sixth time next month for three days of cooking demonstrations.
Four area residents have been appointed to serve on the North Campus Advisory Committee at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro, Dr. Ted Nichols, assistant dean for the North Campus, announced. The appointees are: Arline M. Buckman, Wellsboro, who holds bachelor's and master's degrees and a certificate of advanced study from Johns Hopkins University.
The Pennsylvania Aggregates and Concrete Association, which represents more than 200 member companies statewide, will provide an annual $1,000 scholarship for students enrolled in the Civil Engineering Technology bachelor's-degree program at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Nearly 300 students have petitioned to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology in commencement exercises scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 21. The North Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association recently provided a gift of $1,000 to Pennsylvania College of Technology. The chapter, which includes Bradford, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga and Union counties, represents trucking firms that hire many graduates from the Diesel Technology programs at Penn College.
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., of Torrance, Calif., has donated a 2000 Corolla sedan to Pennsylvania College of Technology for instructional use. The vehicle, which is valued at $16,323, will be used in the automotive programs in the School of Transportation Technology at Penn College.
Past and present hosts of television cooking shows will combine their culinary skills to make delectable dishes during WVIA-TV's pledge drive on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Janet Eyer Miller, a television pioneer in northeastern Pennsylvania, will join Chef Paul Mach and Tom Speicher, the hosts of WVIA's current popular cooking series "You're the Chef," for live cooking.
The DaimlerChrysler Training Center at Malvern has donated a Chrysler Maserati worth more than $11,000 to Pennsylvania College of Technology. The 1991 vehicle, which is valued at $11,070, will be used for instructional purposes by the automotive programs in the School of Transportation Technology at Penn College. Ken Benson of DaimlerChrysler presented the car to the College.
