A memorial commencement award and scholarship honoring the late Ronald E. Thompson a faculty member at Pennsylvania College of Technology and its predecessor institution Williamsport Area Community College have been established at the College. The Ronald E. Thompson Memorial Physical Fitness Specialist Commencement Award and Scholarship will be distributed annually, beginning in May.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's two television series have been honored in The Communicator Awards 2003 Video Competition.

Dr. Robert E. Dunham, chairman of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors, and his wife, Maureen, have established a scholarship to be awarded annually at the College. Preference for the scholarship award will be given to students who are enrolled full-time in a bachelor-degree program (third year or greater) who demonstrate financial need and academic quality.

Patricia J. Martin, clinical director of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program in the School of Health Sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been appointed to the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. ACOTE is a 16-member national body that accredits professional and technical levels of occupational therapy education in the United States.

Adults considering a career change can receive free help courtesy of the "Project Choice" program at Pennsylvania College of Technology, which will offer a new evening session next month. The session, which will run from Feb. 2-12, will be offered from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday (no sessions are held on Fridays).

Responding to a nationwide need for qualified surgical technologists, Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Health Sciences will offer a Surgical Technology major beginning with the Fall 2004 semester. The two-year associate-degree program also offers students the option of earning a bachelor's degree in Applied Health Studies.

Three six-week noncredit courses providing a comprehensive introduction to hatha yoga will be offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology beginning Jan. 12. Each class will include asana (postures) practice and deep relaxation. Those who have never practiced yoga, as well as those wishing to refine their understanding, will benefit.

The educational approach of the renowned preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, will be the topic of a program to be presented Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library. "The Best Preschools in the World? A Visit to Reggio Emilia" will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. by Karen Woland Payne, director of the Children's Learning Center at Penn College.
