Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's nationally recognized Plastics and Polymer Technology programs will continue learning at the leading edge of technology, thanks to the generosity of several major companies. Penn College has acquired a polymer extrusion gear pump system to install on existing laboratory equipment.

Three Pennsylvania College of Technology students placed and four others received honorable mentions at the SkillsUSA-VICA National Leadership and Skills Conference held June 27 in Kansas City, Mo. SkillsUSA-VICA is a national organization serving 250,000 high-school and college students and professional members in training programs for technical occupations.

The opening ceremonies for Special Olympics Pennsylvania's 2002 Summer Games were enhanced by the addition of a cauldron and torch designed and built by faculty and students at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The 6-1/2-foot-tall (excluding the base), all-aluminum cauldron and wood/stainless-steel torch took more than two months to design and construct.

Eleven freshman students enrolled for the Fall 2002 semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been designated "Presidential Scholars," an honor awarded for academic excellence and service to school and community.
