More than 300 Pennsylvania College of Technology students have petitioned to receive their degrees or certificates in commencement ceremonies scheduled to take place Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. Chef Paul E. Mach, assistant professor of food and hospitality management/culinary arts, will deliver the commencement address.
Faculty and students from Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will return to the Pennsylvania Farm Show in January to exhibit their culinary expertise in cooking demonstrations to be presented over three days. The five faculty and 10 students will present 19 demonstrations and tasting sessions Jan. 5-7 for the 86th Pennsylvania Farm Show event.
While many college students enjoyed the final days of their summer break, Pennsylvania College of Technology student Michael S. Sebergandio was taking a crash course in high-tech bridge-building techniques and Japanese culture.
Culinary students at Pennsylvania College of Technology are making gingerbread houses that will be displayed during the Third Annual Victorian Christmas celebration in Williamsport's Historic District before being auctioned for charity. The student-crafted creations will be displayed from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Park Place (formerly The Park Home) on West Fourth Street.
Chocolate houses created by students in the Baking and Pastry Arts major at Pennsylvania College of Technology will help Williamsport/Lycoming Habitat for Humanity continue its mission of building affordable housing for low-income families in need of adequate shelter. The chocolate houses will be sold in a silent auction to be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Dec.
Ten people from Tioga and Potter counties were recognized recently in a ceremony at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus that commemorated their successful completion of an intensive, short-term Medical Office Support Training program.
The number of students attending Pennsylvania College of Technology has risen by more than 4 percent this fall, resulting in the highest enrollment ever recorded at the institution. Based on third-week enrollment figures, there are 5,538 students attending the College for the Fall 2001 semester, an increase of 215 (4.1 percent) over Fall 2000.
Five students in the Printing and Publishing Technology and Graphic Design bachelor-degree majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been chosen to receive scholarships totaling $5,300 from the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation. The Penn College scholarship recipients were among 260 students nationwide who were selected from a pool of 1,500 applicants at 150 accredited schools.
A group of nine students from the School of Hospitality at Pennsylvania College of Technology will use farm-fresh produce to conduct informal cooking demonstrations when they visit the Williamsport Outdoor Growers Market on Saturday, Sept. 8. The demonstrations will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
