A team of five Pennsylvania College of Technology students from the College's School of Construction and Design Technologies finished third recently in a residential-construction competition organized by the National Association of Home Builders. The two-day event, which was held in Atlanta, featured competitions for students in secondary schools and two- and four-year college programs.
Pennsylvania College of Technology was named "School of the Year" recently by the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls. Penn College prevailed over three other nominees − the University of Delaware, Kutztown University and LaSalle University − for the award.
Seventeen students from Pennsylvania College of Technology took first place in their contest categories in the district-level SkillsUSA-VICA competition, held recently at a number of sites, including Penn College. The first-place finishers now advance to the competition at the Pennsylvania SkillsUSA-VICA Conference, to be held April 9-11 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Champion.
Shawn M. Strohman and Jami O. DiMichele were chosen as the 2001 Homecoming King and Queen recently at Pennsylvania College of Technology, raising $1,120 for charity in the process. Students "voted" for Homecoming King and Queen by placing money in the jars of their favorite candidates among 21 nominees. Strohman and DiMichele raised the most funds and were named Homecoming King and Queen.
Providing a sound foundation in medical science isn't the sole goal of a good nurse-education program. Conveying the "caring art" of nursing, as demonstrated recently by several members of the Student Nurses' Association at Pennsylvania College of Technology, is equally important in producing well-rounded health-care professionals.

Four students at Pennsylvania College of Technology have received $1,500 scholarships provided by the Plastics Pioneers Association and administered by the Plastics Institute of America.
Residents of the Williamsport YWCA's Women's Shelter benefited recently from a project performed by 13 Pennsylvania College of Technology members of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for associate-degree students. The Phi Theta Kappa students donated and collected enough items to assemble nearly three dozen personal-care packs, which they have delivered to the Women's Shelter.
Nearly 300 students have petitioned to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology in commencement exercises scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 21. The students will receive their bachelor's and associate's degrees and certificates in ceremonies set to begin at 7 p.m. at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Benjamin H.
