An information session for the next medical (office) assistant class to be offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus will be held July 26. The information session will begin at 9 a.m. at the North Campus, located three miles east of Wellsboro. The next medical assistant class is scheduled to begin in mid-September.

Graduation ceremonies were held May 20 for those completing the medical (office) assistant program at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro. Ten individuals completed the nine-month training program, preparing them for employment in medical offices, labs, clinics and human-service agencies.

Julie A. Stager, a certified billing and coding specialist and instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro, recently was chosen to take part in the National Healthcareer Association test-item writing workshop, held March 7-8 in Kansas City, Mo.

For small-business owners who want to manage their financial accounts with greater confidence, entrepreneurs with energy and ideas but no accounting experience, as well as those who have basic knowledge of computer-accounting packages but want to learn more, help is available through a noncredit course offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, located just east of Wellsboro, will host an open house on Monday, April 18, for those interested in nursing as a career. The event, to be offered from 5 to 7 p.m., will feature information sessions about the application process, tuition and financial aid.

Two by-appointment-only opportunities for free tax assistance have been scheduled at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro. The Internal Revenue Service's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, in which Penn College students help prepare hundreds of income-tax returns each season, will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Twenty-one students recently graduated from the practical nursing program at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, with a ceremony held Dec. 16. The students chose N. Kim Johnson, a flight nurse for Geisinger Medical Center and a substitute clinical instructor in the program, as the distinguished speaker for the ceremony. Larry L.

Pennsylvania College of Technology received grants totaling more than $70,000 to award need-based scholarships to students enrolled in its nursing majors. The Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation awarded two Nursing Education Grants for 2010-11. A $59,455 grant was awarded to aid students pursuing degrees in nursing on the college's main campus in Williamsport.

The practical nursing program at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus is scheduling pre-admission testing for the January 2011 class. The first day of class is scheduled for Jan. 3. The 12-month practical nursing program is offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College.
