North Campus Practical Nursing Program to Host Open House
Wednesday, March 23, 2011
Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, located just east of Wellsboro, will host an open house on Monday, April 18, for those interested in nursing as a career.
The event, to be offered from 5 to 7 p.m., will feature information sessions about the application process, tuition and financial aid. Visitors will be able to see the nursing lab and classroom, as well as attend sessions at 5 or 6 p.m. to have questions answered by the coordinator of practical nursing at the North Campus.
Excellent career opportunities for licensed practical nurses exist in area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, personal-care facilities and human-service organizations. The North Campus will begin accepting applications for the next class on June 1. All applicants must complete pre-entrance requirements by Oct. 1 to be considered for admission into the January 2012 class.
Classes for the 12-month, full-time practical nursing program are held at the North Campus, with clinical experiences offered at Laurel Health System facilities and Broad Acres Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wellsboro, or at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital and Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.
The North Campus program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Those completing the program successfully will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-PN) for licensure as an LPN.
