Some students in the automotive programs in the School of Transportation Technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology will have an opportunity to work with a state-of-the-art gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle, courtesy of an auto dealership in the Williamsport area.

"Rhythms and Readings," the third annual poetry/prose reading sponsored by the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library, will be held Tuesday, April 23, at the College. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the Hager Lifelong Education Center, adjacent to the library.

Motorcyclists and car enthusiasts will gather again at Pennsylvania College of Technology on May 5 for the Fourth Annual Motorcycle Scholarship Ride and Car Cruise, an event benefiting student scholarships. Last year's ride raised $4,500 for the Penn College Scholarship Fund and featured participation by 225 motorcycles, 50 cars and more than 500 people.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors on Thursday unanimously approved the architect's design for the expansion of College West Apartments. The project will enlarge the 414-bed student-housing complex by 365 beds, bringing the total number of beds available on the main campus to more than 1,400. The construction is expected to be completed in time for Fall 2003 occupancy.

A paper bridge designed by two Pennsylvania College of Technology students carried a load 579 times its weight, setting a record recently in winning the strongest-bridge category in the 11th annual "Bridging the Gap" competition at the College. In the competition, students designed and built bridges made entirely from construction paper and glue.
