PHRN and Critical Care Transport Provider Preparatory Course
Penn College is proud to present this innovative course blending the fundamentals of Prehospital care, with content that prepares the Prehospital clinician to function in the critical care transport environment. Immersive online content provides the foundational knowledge, which is expanded through 48 hours of lab time serving to learn new skills, refresh old skills, and perfect assessment techniques. Specific content and skills explored in this course include:
- Basic and Advanced Airway Management
- Mechanical Ventilation
- 12-lead ECG Interpretation
- Needle and Tube Thoracostomy
- Pericardiocentesis
- IO Placement
- Flight Physiology
- Medical and Traumatic Emergencies
Currently certified Prehospital Participants will gain a total of 80 hours of continuing education credits. Paramedics can utilize this course to renew their National Registry certification; RN’s will be prepared to challenge the NREMT exam at the paramedic level. Providers will also be prepared to attempt the FP-C, CFRN, and/or CCP-C exams. Applicants must hold a current, unrestricted Pennsylvania RN licensure or Pennsylvania Department of health paramedic certification, as well as ACLS and PALS certification, throughout the course. Participants will have clinical time scheduled outside of our regularly scheduled class time, based upon their availability. Registration is limited to a total of 20 students. The course cost is $1800 per student, including textbooks and PHTLS certification.
