Alison A. Diehl has been appointed vice president for workforce development at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Diehl’s hiring was approved June 27 by the Penn College Board of Directors. She has been serving as executive director of the college’s Clean Energy Center since November 2023; she begins her new duties on Aug. 5.
Diehl began her employment with the college in 2009. Her previous positions were director of the Clean Energy Center, assistant director of the National Sustainable Structures Center and training coordinator for the Pennsylvania Housing Resource Center. Prior to that, she was employed as a training and acquisition specialist with the former Acquisition Solutions Inc. (now ASI Government), Herndon, Virginia.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in international studies (with a focus on sustainable development, history and political science) from Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove. She holds a Master’s Certificate in performance-based acquisition from Acquisition Solutions Training Institute.
“With her considerable experience in project management, building and leading high-performing teams, forging relationships with client and business partners, and managing complex budgets, Alison is the ideal candidate to lead Workforce Development at Penn College,” President Michael J. Reed said. “Workforce Development plays a substantial role in the success of the college, serving nearly 5,000 participants – representing 674 unique companies and organizations – in Fiscal Year 2023 alone in clean energy, apprenticeship, advanced manufacturing, computer skills, health care, transportation and leadership training. I look forward to her efforts in maintaining, and expanding, our industry and workforce reach within Pennsylvania and beyond.”
In the vice president’s role, Diehl will develop strategy for workforce programming in all areas within Workforce Development at Penn College including the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center, the Clean Energy Center, the Apprenticeship Center, Penn College at Wellsboro, and all core operations within the department.
She will plan and develop the vision and goals for Workforce Development, ensuring alignment with the college’s broader mission and vision, and she will serve on President’s Council.
Shannon Munro, the current vice president for workforce development, is transitioning into an executive leadership role with WEDnetPA, an alliance of educational providers across Pennsylvania — including Penn College, other colleges and universities, community colleges and other entities – that acts as a delivery mechanism for workforce training grants.
