An instructor of baking and pastry arts and culinary arts at Pennsylvania College of Technology was invited to teach one of this year’s two-day regional workshops for the Bread Bakers Guild of America. Chef Charles R. Niedermyer II, a faculty member at the college since 2005, taught “A Modern Approach to Classic Viennoiserie” to 14 guild members Aug.

The National Science Foundation reaffirmed its confidence in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s efforts to combat the manufacturing skills gap by providing a supplemental grant to facilitate study abroad in Germany.

Cathryn Addy, founding director of the college’s North Campus in Wellsboro, has been chosen as interim president of Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Addy was hired for the Wellsboro position in March 1983, shortly after Williamsport Area Community College (forerunner to Penn College) began offering practical nursing classes at the Tioga County site.

The latest "Bases Loaded" sculpture, a left fielder to be installed near Penn College's main entrance, will be unveiled in a public ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday. "Bases Loaded" is a privately funded project featuring individual statues commemorating the history of Little League.

Pennsylvania College of Technology held its Summer Commencement at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Dylan G. Otis, presented with associate degrees in heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis and heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis, was the student speaker.

An Excellence in Teaching Award was presented to a nursing faculty member during Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Summer 2019 Commencement ceremony. Terri A. Pennsylvania College of Technology presented a Mentorship Award to alumna Andrea (Niklaus) Reed, director of nursing/patient safety, privacy and compliance officer at UPMC Susquehanna Muncy. The award was bestowed upon Reed by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour during the Summer 2019 commencement ceremony, held Aug. 10 at the Community Arts Center.
