Penn College presents Excellence in Teaching Award

An Excellence in Teaching Award was presented to a nursing faculty member during Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Summer 2019 Commencement ceremony.

Terri A. Stone, assistant professor of nursing programs in the college’s School of Nursing & Health Sciences, received the honor at the Community Arts Center on Aug. 10.

Since 1982, 111 Distinguished Teaching Awards have been bestowed upon Penn College faculty – 33 Master Teacher Awards and 78 Excellence in Teaching Awards.

In presenting the award to Stone, President Davie Jane Gilmour provided some edited comments from the nominating documentation:

  • “Is extremely knowledgeable in the field ... classes are nontraditional, utilizing the latest research and integrating team and partner work to relate the text to real-world events.”

  • “Has good rapport with students ... is extremely friendly, yet professional.”

  • “Great at answering questions and guiding us in the right direction.”

  • “Is an engaged faculty member, who is passionate about her work with students.”


Stone began her employment at Penn College in 2010 and has been a full-time faculty member since 2012. Previously, she worked in medical-surgical nursing, long-term care licensure and certification, and public health nursing-cardiovascular health.

She holds a Master of Business Administration from Bloomsburg University, a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Mansfield University, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Bloomsburg University.
