During a week that – due to weather-related postponements – nearly all of the action took place over the weekend, Pennsylvania College of Technology teams found success in baseball, softball and men’s lacrosse.
Mother Nature displayed both her nice side (pleasant temperatures and sunshine for the golf team) and not-so-nice side (wind, rain and snow squalls that caused postponements in baseball and tennis) to Pennsylvania College of Technology spring sports teams last week. And despite less than ideal conditions, the softball team opened United East play with back-to-back doubleheader sweeps.
Although Mother Nature may not always cooperate in the spring, Pennsylvania College of Technology golf and men’s and women’s tennis teams are scheduled to open their seasons over the next week. Golfers hit the links on Monday at the Lebanon Valley College Spring Invitational while tennis players are scheduled to take to the courts on March 27 at Juniata College.
Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball and softball teams are coming off trips to South Carolina where they went a combined 10-5 (6-2 baseball and 4-3 softball) last week in preparation for their United East seasons later this month.
“Last season served the program very well to get experience playing at the next level. I am grateful to have so many returners with that experience to build upon,” Pennsylvania College of Technology softball coach Angela Hunley said reflecting on 2021 and looking to this year.
A fifth-place individual finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Wrestling Championships highlighted a busy weekend for Pennsylvania College of Technology athletes.
As seasons ended for Pennsylvania College of Technology basketball teams over the weekend, the college’s wrestlers are preparing for NCAA Division III regionals and its baseball and archery teams are set to open this weekend. Also, a new women’s soccer coach has been named.
In its inaugural season under a first-time head coach, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s lacrosse team went 4-2 overall and finished second in the conference, begging the question: What will it do for an encore when play begins next Sunday (Feb. 13) hosting Juniata College? “The 2022 season is looking good,” coach Jordan Williams said.
Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s and women’s basketball teams both posted wins during a combined 2-4 week, while the wrestling squad lost in its only outing. Men’s basketball At home in a United East game on Tuesday, Penn College got a rare triple-double from Gavin Barrett, of Roselle, New Jersey, in an 86-52 romp over Penn State Berks.
While the winter sports seasons continue for Pennsylvania College of Technology basketball and wrestling teams, action for the college’s spring esports teams is just beginning.
