Catherine V. McCall of Media, a senior in the applied human services major, has been selected as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for November. A student leader and Resident Assistant in the College West Apartments, McCall shows enthusiasm and dedication on and off campus.
Michael R. Bloom, a sophomore electronics engineering technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has earned the Central Keystone Section of the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student entering his or her second year of study in electronics with an industrial process control emphasis.
Eight Pennsylvania College of Technology students have earned 10 district-level scholarships from the American Welding Society for the 2005-06 academic year. Students from the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies recently toured the U.S. Department of Defense Supply Center: Richmond Army Depot in Mechanicsburg. Manufacturing engineering technology, welding and fabrication engineering technology and electronics engineering technology students came together to see the opportunities that exist with the depot, which employs more than 5,000.
Pennsylvania College of Technology student Richard A. Blase has been awarded the John Bosak Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. Blase, Cogan Station, was operations manager for WPTC, Penn College's student-run radio station, for the 2004-05 academic year.
Students in the Culinary Senior Project class visited Freshlife Wellness Center in Loyalsock Township on Nov. 9, where they toured the store and attended a seminar on guided imagery. The seminar was presented by Barbara Jarmoska, health educator, president of Freshlife, and host of "Road to Health Radio," a show aired locally on WRAK and WWPA. Bruce K.
Wielding rakes, leaf bags and paint rollers, Penn College students descended upon the Williamsport YWCA for a Saturday afternoon of community service. The students organized by K. Dex Tuttle, assistant director for programming in the Student Activities Office raked and bagged leaves at the 815 W. Fourth St. facility and repainted traffic lines.
Services were held this week for James "Andy" Hinson, a general studies student from Milton, who died Sunday at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Full military honors were accorded Hinson, who was a member of the Lewisburg-based 3rd Battalion, 103rd Armor of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.
