Catherine V. McCall of Media, a senior in the applied human services major, has been selected as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for November.
A student leader and Resident Assistant in the College West Apartments, McCall shows enthusiasm and dedication on and off campus. She is an active member of the Residence Hall Association, formerly serving as national communications coordinator and secretary; and is a Student Government Association member.
She is in her second year as chair of the Wildcat Events Board, previously serving as its treasurer, and received "School Spirit" recognition during the Fall 2004 "Basketball Midnight Madness" event.
"She considers what all Penn College students want on campus after listening to their suggestions," one of her nominators wrote. "She is an excellent chair because she looks at the whole picture, is dependable, a good role model and very dedicated."
McCall also is a volunteer for Camp JRA (Juveniles Reaching Achievement), where children with arthritis and other rheumatic diseases can form social bonds with others who share their challenges.
SGA regularly selects a "Student of the Month" based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. A nomination form is available on the organization's Web site.
