Two Williamsport-area nonprofits will again support one another during the Little League Baseball World Series, as budding culinary artists and paramedics from Pennsylvania College of Technology gain experience, and Little League players and fans benefit from their skill. The nationally televised series, scheduled Aug. 16-27, draws tens of thousands of spectators each day to the Little League World Series complex in South Williamsport, just a few miles from the Penn College campus.

Clay art pieces crafted by Gerald G. Kaplan, instructor of ceramics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, were selected for display in two national juried exhibitions this summer – one in the heart of New Orleans and the other in rural, southwestern Pennsylvania.

Craig A. Miller, professor of history/political science and department head for social sciences and humanities, and Jennifer R. An emergency management and homeland security instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology has been appointed commander of the Pennsylvania Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. Col. William A. Schlosser will lead the organization for the next three years. CAP’s Pennsylvania Wing comprises 43 squadrons with more than 1,600 volunteers.

Artwork created by a Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member is featured in two international exhibitions on display in Germany and Poland. David M. Moyer, assistant professor of graphic design, has six pen-and-ink drawings appearing in an exhibition in Berlin and two wood engravings in a touring exhibition in Poland.

A used ambulance is gaining new life in the hands of emergency management & homeland security students at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Donated by Fike Services LLC and Speclin Emergency Vehicle Sales & Service Inc., the ambulance has been revived as a Mobile Command Post for the training of Penn College emergency management students.
