When staff and students from Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Le Jeune Chef Restaurant catered daily meals for the teams participating in the 2023 Little League Baseball World Series, they had an extra token to share: trading pins designed by Penn College graphic design student Brock R. Hower, of Montoursville.

A graphic designer who has created and revitalized brands to international acclaim shared his grounded advice recently with graphic design students at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Todd True’s world has revolved around such companies as John Deere, FedEx, BP, Canadian Airlines and Johnson & Johnson, but he is connected locally – serving on the Advertising Art/Graphic Design Advisory Committee and being the father of a Penn College freshman.

Clay art pieces crafted by Gerald G. Kaplan, instructor of ceramics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, were selected for display in two national juried exhibitions this summer – one in the heart of New Orleans and the other in rural, southwestern Pennsylvania.

Next week, 20 baseball teams from 11 countries will compete at the Little League World Series. Those youngsters and thousands of fans will embrace visual elements both on-site and online that were conceived by one “team” from one school: Pennsylvania College of Technology. Little League International’s Creative Department comprises three Penn College graphic design graduates – Amanda M. Cropper-Rose (class of 2012), Danielle N. Gannon (2022) and Natalie K. Lincalis (2023).

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented Whitnie-Rae Mays with the Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award at its Summer 2023 Commencement ceremony, held Aug. 5 at the Community Arts Center. Mays earned a Bachelor of Science in applied technology studies from Penn College in 2014 and an Associate of Applied Science in advertising art in 2012. She is a graphic designer and marketing specialist with Lycoming Engines, a manufacturer of aircraft engines headquartered in Williamsport.

Artwork created by a Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member is featured in two international exhibitions on display in Germany and Poland. David M. Moyer, assistant professor of graphic design, has six pen-and-ink drawings appearing in an exhibition in Berlin and two wood engravings in a touring exhibition in Poland.

Two graphic design faculty members from Pennsylvania College of Technology recently presented their research findings at a national conference in Denver.

The graphic design major celebrated two significant campus events in recent days, with more than 200 people attending a reception for “Graphic Design 2023” and with nearly 100 high school students and teachers visiting Pennsylvania College of Technology for the inaugural Graphic Design Senior Project Exhibition.

“Moving the Earth, Capturing the Sun” is the title of a one-student exhibit on display in the lobby of The Gallery at Penn College. The exhibit showcases ceramics and photography by Alexis M. Burrell, a senior in graphic design at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
