Two graphic design faculty members from Pennsylvania College of Technology presented insights on visual literacy at an international conference in Finland in mid-August. Brian A. Flynn and David M. Moyer, assistant professors of graphic design, were featured at the 54th Annual Conference of the International Visual Literacy Association, held at the University of Jyväskylä, in Jyväskylä, Finland.

The Gallery at Penn College kicked off its new season this past week with the art, inspiration and activism of metal sculptor Lynden Cline. “We are so fortunate that our visiting artist could share new perspectives on art and the creative process through interactive experiences with students, faculty, staff and the community,” said Penny Griffin Lutz, gallery director.

An ink drawing by David M. Moyer, assistant professor of graphic design at Pennsylvania College of Technology, is among artwork selected for the 55th annual Art of the State exhibition at The State Museum of Pennsylvania. The exhibit opened Sept. 11 and will be on view through Jan. 15 at the museum, 300 North St., Harrisburg.

The connections between Little League Baseball® and Pennsylvania College of Technology are decades' old, from construction students' work on the original complex in the 1950s to this month's catered meals for players in the 75th annual LLB World Series.

Among the newer additions to the Pennsylvania College of Technology community as the Fall 2022 semester begins are 19 faculty members, as provided by the Office of People & Culture. Fifteen will begin their instructional duties on Aug. 11; the remainder were added to the roster as noted. "This cohort of new faculty possesses a wide range of experiences and skills," said Joanna K.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has granted faculty emeritus status to Patrick D. Murphy, a founding member of what is now the graphic design department. Murphy, who retired in 2010 after 31 years of teaching service to Penn College, was the recipient of the college’s highest honor granted to faculty – the Veronica M. Muzic Master Teacher Award – in 1989.

Family, friends and faculty poured into The Gallery at Penn College late Friday afternoon to view the design work of 11 graphic design seniors. Graphic Design 2022 shines a spotlight on the near-graduates’ four years of dedicated work and serves up a celebratory reception, complete with sweet and savory hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. The graphic design talents of four students and seven alumni from Pennsylvania College of Technology have been honored in two prestigious design competitions. In both contests, Penn College designs captured Best of Show awards. In the 2021-22 American Advertising Federation of Northeast Pennsylvania’s Student American Advertising Awards, John J.

“It was nice to find a tiny gift. It made my day, honestly,” said Natalie K. Lincalis, a graphic design student from Muncy. “I was so grateful to find one,” shared Sarah R. Yoder, coordinator of admissions operations. “They are beautiful!” Such were the reactions to discovering “feathered friends” hidden in nooks and crannies, scattered across the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus.
