The Madigan Library clock and the large American flag that flies at the entrance of campus. A Wildcat paw and a variety of hands-on tools. They’re all showcased on the back of a new “Penn College Proud” T-shirt that is attracting the attention of students.
Designed by Pennsylvania College of Technology graphic design senior Abigail V. Thomas, the shirt is becoming a prized possession on campus – and is complete with a handy front pocket.
"I had a lot of fun designing this shirt!” Thomas said. “I tried my best to really summarize what PCT is all about with my design. I wanted the design to feel informal and fun, which is why I went with the doodles on the back and the playful font on the pocket. I chose a nice turquoise color for the shirt so that it wasn't just another blue shirt, but something that was different and fresh but still fit with PCT's brand."
Thomas submitted the winning design for the T-shirt in a design contest held by the college’s Public Relations & Marketing Office in Fall 2022, and the extra-soft top was ready for distribution this spring. Some students have won the shirt for posting on their social media accounts with the #penncollegeproud hashtag. More ways to distribute the shirt will be launched in the coming weeks and months.

Abigail V. Thomas
Thomas has wanted to be a graphic designer since her freshman year at Williamsport Area High School.
“My high school offered a CTE (career and technical education) course for it, and I immediately fell in love with it,” she said. “Graphic design ties together so many of my interests, like art, photography, branding and even marketing. I love that I get to be creative every single day and watch my skills improve with almost every project.”
Thomas plans to graduate in May with her Bachelor of Science degree in graphic design. She and 23 fellow students are exhibiting their senior portfolios in “Graphic Design 2023,” which runs through May 5 in The Gallery at Penn College on the third floor of the library.
