Pennsylvania College of Technology has named Michael J. Reed interim dean of sciences, humanities and visual communications. Reed, who has more than 20 years of leadership, teaching and counseling experience, previously served as assistant dean in the School of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications, working collaboratively with the mathematics, natural sciences and communications faculty.

Carl L. Shaner, director of College Health Services at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been elected to a three-year term on the Northeastern Pennsylvania Red Cross Blood Region Advisory Board. Carl L.

Bradley M. Webb has been named an assistant dean at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Formerly the director of student affairs administration, Webb recently assumed duties as an assistant dean for the School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies.

An economics professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology presented a paper and offered other expertise at the annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Economics Association, held recently at Penn State Berks in Reading. Abdul B. Pathan presented a paper titled “Ready-Made Garments Trade of Bangladesh and USA” at the gathering.

Six Pennsylvania College of Technology students and their instructor recently traveled to Nicaragua, where they provided dental care for students at a school for very poor children. La Escuelita (The Little School) is in the Santo Domingo section of the city of Managua.

Jennifer I. Watson has been named coordinator of transfer initiatives at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Previously, Watson served on the adjunct faculty at Penn College in the areas of psychology, education and first year programs.
