Students from Penn College's School of Hospitality were featured on WNEP-TV's "Pennsylvania Outdoor Life" series Sunday, May 14. The Outdoor Life crew visited Penn College in April, when they filmed students Lance A. Smith, of Harrisburg, and Christopher R. Grove, of Linden, with Michael J. A world-renowned cake decorator will sponsor the first "CalJava Wedding Cake Contest" at Pennsylvania College of Technology on May 1. Daniel Budiman, CEO of CalJava International the contest's sponsor and editor of Here Comes the Cake magazine, has earned fame for his unique wedding-cake designs.
Visiting Chef Walter Staib spent time with students on campus Feb. 23-25, during which they prepared an elegant Visiting Chef Dinner that was served on Saturday. Staib owns City Tavern in Philadelphia, a reconstructed version of the tavern in which members of the First Continental Congress met informally. Funds from the dinner are used to support scholarships.
Students enrolled in the School of Hospitality at Pennsylvania College of Technology not only prepare food for the college's fine-dining restaurant, they also help manage its kitchen as they fulfill requirements for the Regional American Cuisine and Breakfast and Brunch courses.
Pennsylvania College of Technology will host its spring Visiting Chef Series Feb. 23-25, welcoming Walter Staib, accomplished chef and proprietor of City Tavern in Philadelphia. While at the college, Staib will work alongside students, sharing his expertise as they prepare a benefit dinner on Saturday, Feb. 25, that will conclude the stay.
