Malcolm Kane Freshman goalkeeper Malcolm Kane, of Glenside, was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 1.  In the team’s first game of the season, Kane recorded 10 saves on his way to a 3-1 win over New York's Alfred State.  He becomes the first selection for the award on the year.

Three Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams begin their seasons this week and three others got the seasons underway over the weekend, going 1-2 on the road. In openers this week, the golf team steps into action Wednesday, the women’s tennis team takes to the courts on Thursday and the cross-country team races on Saturday.

Three of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s six fall sports teams open their seasons this week as the women’s volleyball team gets underway at 7 p.m. Friday at Keystone College, the men’s soccer team starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Alfred (N.Y.) State University and the women’s soccer team begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Rosemont College.

When Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams begin their seasons over the next two weeks, three will be under new coaches. Monica Brown succeeds Bambi Hawkins as coach of the women’s volleyball team, Adam Matter replaces Enrique Castillo as coach of the men’s soccer team and David Mendez follows Mike Paulhamus as coach of the men’s and women’s cross-country teams. The Pennsylvania College of Technology Athletics Department has named Adam W. Matter as head coach of the men’s soccer team. “Adam is another great addition to our staff,” said Scott E. Kennell, director of athletics.  “I have every confidence that he will continue Penn College’s strong soccer tradition.” Adam W.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Athletics Department has named David J. Mendez as head cross-country coach and Monica L. Brown as head coach of women’s volleyball. “Both Coach Mendez and Coach Brown are taking over two very strong programs,” said Scott E.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference has accepted Pennsylvania College of Technology for full membership beginning with the 2014-15 academic year, conference officials announced. The first year of NEAC membership is on a provisional basis. Full membership is contingent upon Penn College being accepted for provisional membership in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Pennsylvania College of Technology, in conjunction with the Penn State University Athletic Conference, has announced the recipients of the Winter/Spring 2013 All-Academic Team award. The award is given to student-athletes with a GPA of 3.0 or better in the semester of competition.  Winter sports that compete over two semesters are calculated by averaging both semester grades.

It was another blockbuster year for Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams as they captured their fifth straight Penn State University Athletic Conference Chancellor’s Cup. The cup is awarded to a member institution with the most accumulated points for the year. Points are awarded based on the finish of each conference team.
