The on-campus team put up a good fight, but, in the end, the off-campus defense was too much and won Friday's Powder Puff Football game 20-6. According to a game summary from Jeremy Bottorf, intramural/Fitness Center assistant, Jess Strasser was all over the field and scored on a long touchdown run to start the scoring for the off-campus team.

For the past year, the men's and women's soccer teams at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been running on a parallel course, and the similarities are striking.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's men's cross country team has had more than its share of success over the years, but, onOct. 6, it reached a new high. Paced by sophomore Greg Kammerle (Willow Grove), the Wildcats won their first nonconference meet in 20 seasons. Kammerle covered the 4.9-mile course in 28:30. A year ago, he set a record on the course when he finished in 28:15.

A team of students won the inaugural kickball game against Penn College staff Wednesday night. The students, led by Gavin Mock's 3-run home run, rallied to beat the staff team, 12-5. Staff caught the student team off-guard and scored 4 runs in the first inning to open up a lead. The students got one back in the bottom half of the first and scored 3 more in the second to tie the game.

Pennsylvania College of Technology golfers have captured a conference championship for an unprecedented fifth straight season.

Jackie Sampson, of Liberty , a graduate of Liberty High School , has been named Pennsylvania College of Technology's "Student-Athlete of the Week" for Oct. 1-7. Sampson, a junior nursing student, stood out like a "David" among "Goliaths" during a recent volleyball tournament at Lycoming College against NCAA Division III teams and the All-Armed Forces squad.

Due to scheduling and travel snafus, Penn College's baseball team will end its season with a doubleheader at Penn State Beaver on Saturday, rather than playing in the four-team Penn State University Athletic Conference Mid-Season Classic. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the second following.

Mark Shaffer of Hanover, a graduate of South Western High School , has been named Pennsylvania College of Technology's "Student-Athlete of the Week" for Sept. 25-30. Shaffer, a sophomore majoring in heating, ventilation and air conditioning technology, has compiled a 5-1 pitching record with a 1.20 earned run average in 27 innings of work for the college's baseball team.
