Off-Campus Shuts Down On-Campus in 'Powder Puff Football' Game
Friday, October 12, 2007
The on-campus team put up a good fight, but, in the end, the off-campus defense was too much and won Friday's Powder Puff Football game 20-6. According to a game summary from Jeremy Bottorf, intramural/Fitness Center assistant, Jess Strasser was all over the field and scored on a long touchdown run to start the scoring for the off-campus team. Erin Mahoney added the point-after, and off-campus led 7-0. Strasser struck again in the second quarter, intercepting a pass and running it back for a touchdown. Again, Mahoney added the extra point and off-campus built a 14-0 lead going into halftime. The third quarter saw more off-campus domination, as Emily Beiter took the quarterback keeper and made the score 20-0. The on-campus team started moving the ball more in the second half and even pulled out a trick play, but its drives were stopped as the off-campus defense grew stronger. The on-campus team scored on a pretty pass by Melissa Berrier to Kat Potasek, hitting her on a fade pattern, and the on-campus team was down 20-6. The on-side kick failed and the off-campus team ran out the clock and the hopes of the on-campus girls. Bottorf thanks the referees and all the students who donated their time to run the clock, mark the field and work the chains.
