Four nursing students active in Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Nurses' Association were recently honored for their exemplary volunteer efforts in two community-service projects.

Making a difference in the lives of our less-fortunate world neighbors is the focus of an upcoming Pennsylvania College of Technology colloquium, "Effecting Positive Change: An Insider's View of a Humanitarian Mission to Ukraine." The event is Thursday, Jan. 28, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., in the Lifelong Education Center Room A122.

The educational experiences of numerous students will be enhanced thanks to $877,109 in federal funds awarded to Pennsylvania College of Technology through the "Perkins Local Plan" of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Advanced Technology Education Act. A total of $357,541 is being channeled to provide comprehensive academic and career services to eligible students.

Pennsylvania food and wine products will be in the culinary spotlight when students and faculty from Pennsylvania College of Technology cook up some delectable dishes at the upcoming Pennsylvania Farm Show, which is set for Jan. 9-14, at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. For two days of the event Sunday, Jan. 10 and Monday, Jan.

A dynamic industry which provides the basic operating function of everything from the Internet and digital electronics to cellular phones needs a trained workforce. Pennsylvania wants to promote the growth of this high-impact industry.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Act 101 program has received $132,672 in grant funding through Higher Education Equal Opportunity Program (Act 101) monies. With the College contributing matching funds of $48,158, the project's budget totals $180,830 for the 1998-99 academic year.

A number of Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty and staff recently have been in the news for a variety of accomplishments: Susan Clark-Teisher, project manager with the Technology Transfer Center, has been reappointed to the Mid-State Private Industry Council. She will represent the area of education. The appointment is for a two-year term.
