Patricia J. Martin, clinical director of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program in the School of Health Sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been appointed to the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. ACOTE is a 16-member national body that accredits professional and technical levels of occupational therapy education in the United States.
Responding to a nationwide need for qualified surgical technologists, Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Health Sciences will offer a Surgical Technology major beginning with the Fall 2004 semester. The two-year associate-degree program also offers students the option of earning a bachelor's degree in Applied Health Studies.
Adults considering a career change can receive free help courtesy of the "Project Choice" program at Pennsylvania College of Technology, which will offer a new evening session next month. The session, which will run from Feb. 2-12, will be offered from 5 to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday (no sessions are held on Fridays).
Children ages 6 to 15 are eligible to receive free dental screenings, sealants and oral-health education at "Sealant Saturday," a program to be offered Feb. 7 at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Dental Hygiene Clinic.
The American Dental Education Association, the leading organization for dental education in the United States and Canada, will award a 2004 Presidential Citation to Kathleen E. Morr of Pennsylvania College of Technology. The honor, bestowed by ADEA President Dr. Paula K.
Three six-week noncredit courses providing a comprehensive introduction to hatha yoga will be offered at Pennsylvania College of Technology beginning Jan. 12. Each class will include asana (postures) practice and deep relaxation. Those who have never practiced yoga, as well as those wishing to refine their understanding, will benefit.
The educational approach of the renowned preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italy, will be the topic of a program to be presented Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library. "The Best Preschools in the World? A Visit to Reggio Emilia" will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. by Karen Woland Payne, director of the Children's Learning Center at Penn College.
"Crash Burn Love: Demolition Derby Photographs," an exhibit by photographer Bill Lowenburg, will be displayed at Pennsylvania College of Technology from Jan. 20 to Feb. 13. The exhibit can be seen at The Gallery at Penn College, located in Room 202 of the Bush Campus Center. The opening for the show will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 20. An artist's talk is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
