Four returning graduates hosted a recent panel discussion on "The School of Hard Knocks," giving students at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center a heads-up on what to expect in the workplace once they graduate. The panel was presented during a regular meeting of the Student Success Program offered at theAllenwood-area campusevery fall.

More than 375 students have petitioned to graduate in December from Pennsylvania College of Technology, which will hold a commencement ceremony Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. The student speaker for the 11 a.m. ceremony will be Ryan K.

Michael R. Bloom, a sophomore electronics engineering technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has earned the Central Keystone Section of the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student entering his or her second year of study in electronics with an industrial process control emphasis.

Eight Pennsylvania College of Technology students have earned 10 district-level scholarships from the American Welding Society for the 2005-06 academic year. The scholarship recipients are: District 2 (Long Island, N.Y.; New Jersey; New York; and Philadelphia) Eric J. Belokostolsky, Warwick, N.Y.; Ethan A. Hayden, North Brunswick, N.J.; and Benjamin J. Vivian, Budd Lake, N.J.

A faculty member at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently received notice that her funding application for an in-class project was approved by a Lewisburg-based economic and community-development agency.

The two-year computer-aided drafting technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology has been recertified by the American Design Drafting Association, a distinction currently held by only four schools in the commonwealth. "It is programs such as yours that assure competent design and drafting professionals for the future," noted the ADDA letter that accompanied the recertification notice.

For the first time in its 14-year history, the Plastics Manufacturing Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology has introduced a new commercially available material. The material was developed in partnership with Custom Resins, a Henderson, Ky., resin manufacturer. The new material, called Nylene 494, is a variant of nylon suitable for rotational molding.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will take its mobile plastics lab to Central Mountain High School, Mill Hall, from Dec. 2-22, offering students a unique opportunity to experience the ever-growing plastics industry. The lab includes four units, all assembled by Penn College plastics and polymer engineering technology students.
