The program to recycle printer cartridges at Penn College has produced another check for the general scholarship fund. The Penn College Foundation recently received the check for $235 from the Cartridge World store at 1818 E. Third St. in Williamsport, for empty inkjet and laser cartridges turned in by college employees.

Penn College welcomed approximately 30 students, primarily from the School of Integrated Studies, and their guests for the opening program. The second in the series, for students in the School of Business and Computer Technologies, was offered Wednesday and Thursday.
Dottie M. Mathers, an associate professor of medical/surgical nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has written three workbooks to accompany medical-surgical nursing textbooks. The workbooks, titled "Virtual Clinical Excursions 3.0," are adapted for textbooks published by Elsevier. An accompanying CD features a virtual hospital with five patients.

A field trip for students enrolled in an English as a Second Language program got off to an exciting start May 26. The group was traveling on Route 87 toward a hiking trip at World's End State Park when they noticed a man had fallen from a roof. All four of the students hail from Saudi Arabia and are enrolled in preparatory courses before entering the college's pre-paramedic program.
Designed for students who want focused study in the fine arts, an associate degree in studio arts will become part of Pennsylvania College of Technology's offerings for the 2006-07 academic year.
During a three-day Health Careers Camp on the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus, 40 teens will convene for a hands-on preview of several career options in the health and medical field. The first Honors Program study-abroad venture concluded Monday, when four students returned from a two-week tour of Sweden and Latvia. The group studied the culture and maritime traditions of those nations in support of their program theme, "The Maritime World," and traveled extensively by boat including two 17-hour ferry transits from Sweden to Latvia. As a part of the ongoing efforts of the College Town Committee, a few local college students in Williamsport have developed a 15-second College Town ad to be shown on the big screen at the Great Escape Theatre next to the Lycoming Mall in Pennsdale.
