The Student Activities Office is introducing a new program: Commuter Pit Stops. This program is intended to provide opportunities for commuter students (but ALL students are welcome!) to pick up information about college programs and resources, as well as enjoy some entertainment.

Students looking for a way to get involved on campus had a varied menu of options at the annual Student Organization Fair, held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Bush Campus Center.

Whether his teams return two veterans or 12, Pennsylvania College of Technology cross country coach Mike Paulhamus is always optimistic about his upcoming season. "I always keep a positive frame, so I'm looking at just doing what we've done the last couple of years. Our goal is win the state championship again," the fifth-year coach said.

Edgar A. Hollingsworth, associate professor of machine tool technology/automated manufacturing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, participated in a training conference recently in Canada.The conference, held at the University of Laval in Quebec, was hosted by the College-Industry Council on Material Handling Education.

Jeffrey L. Rankinen, associate professor of electronics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, earned his doctorate in materials on Aug. 15 from The Pennsylvania State University.

With nine returning players, including the co-most valuable players from last year's championship team, things are looking good for the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team.

Information Technology Services recently purchased a new spam-filtering system for the employee e-mail system. After going through several months of testing and fine tuning, the system is ready for campuswide implementation. Beginning Thursday, Sept. 1, e-mail that the system identifies as possible spam no longer will be delivered to employee inboxes.

The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host "Urban," a collection of artwork by Kirk Pedersen,Aug. 30throughSept. 23. An opening reception will take placeAug. 30from 3:30 to 6 p.m., with an artist's talk scheduled at 4 p.m. in Penn's Inn on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center. Both the opening and the talk are free and open to the public.

Through an agreement with the Williamsport YWCA, 815 W. Fourth St., Penn College students havefree access to the facilities, including the warm-water pool and fitness room.Students may participate in any of the programs offered, including water aerobics, aqua kickbox, aqua tai chi and many more. They also may participate in any classes and open/lap swims.

The Digital Media team recently completed a series of instructional DVDs for nursing faculty members Jane J. Benedict, Michelle A. Latshaw, Dorothy M. Mathers and Janet McMahon.
