Beginning Monday, Internet access to employee and student e-mail accounts and network drives will require the use of Web pages that encrypt login information or software configured to use a secure connection. Encryption enhances network security by preventing unauthorized electronic snooping of user IDs and passwords.

The Residence Life Office at Penn College has announced a number of recent honors, singling out noteworthy students and programs among the college's four residence-hall complexes. Selected as this winter's "Resident Assistants of the Month" were Tacy L. De Green, of Bloomsburg, in her second year at Campus View Apartments; and G. Patrick Butler, of Annandale , N.J.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students reported being robbed at gunpoint Sunday night at approximately 8:30 p.m. at an off-campus apartment on West Fourth Street. The incident was reported approximately one hour later to the Williamsport Bureau of Police. A search of the area was conducted; no other evidence was found. The students were not injured.

An industry partner in Penn College's aviation program made a side trip to the Lumley Aviation Center late last week, offering faculty, staff and students a close-up look at a well-appointed corporate jet.

Students, faculty, staff and the general public are encouraged to help reach the goal of 170 pints by giving blood from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The Penn College Library is conducting a pilot project for Spring 2006 utilizing AOL Instant Messenger service that enables you to chat online with a librarian to get immediate assistance with your reference and research questions. This service is available to Penn College students, faculty and staff, as well as those who have questions related to the college or the library's collections.

Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will travel to State College and The Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in February to help prepare meals for participants in the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture's 15th annual "Farming for the Future" conference. The students are members of a catering course taught by Michael J.

Pennsylvania College of Technology and the National Exercise Trainers Association, a nonprofit fitness-professional organization, are co-sponsoring a personal-trainer workshop to be held in April at the college. The workshop, which will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 29, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, will take place in Bardo Gymnasium on Penn College's main campus.
