Pennsylvania College of Technology's fitness and lifetime sports program recently earned recognition by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Twenty-two high school students attended Summer Technology Camp on Penn College's campus June 24-27, during which they experienced hands-on workshops in all of the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies laboratories.

From Little League to playing professionally, Alison Tagliaferri of Linden has found success whatever the level of athletic competition. Now, she's accepted a challenge that will take her from being a player into a new role as head coach of the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team. And she expects the success to continue.

When it comes to all-around excellence against like competition, Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams are second to none. For the second consecutive season, Wildcat teams won five conference championships and took two seconds during 2006-07. Overall, they posted 181 wins, 81 losses and had two ties (both in men's soccer), for an outstanding .686 winning percentage.

Pavi-Elle M. Stuck, 19, of Liverpool, Perry County, a freshman in the pre-occupational therapy major at Penn College, died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident Saturday, June 23, in Shamokin Dam. The Penn College flag will be lowered to half-staff, and a brick will be placed in her memory in the Remembrance Garden.

Two academic deans will end their Pennsylvania College of Technology careers this month, leaving a proud legacy for the experienced administrators who will succeed them. Wayne R. Longbrake, dean of natural resources management, and Kathie E. Morr Longbrake, dean of health sciences, will retire effective June 30.

"Where Science Meets Art," an exhibit by members of the London-based Society for Art of Imagination, opened to the public in the college gallery, Madigan Library 303, at 11 a.m. June 22.
