A beautiful fall weekend provided the backdrop for four days of campus activities geared to alumni and current students alike, from fireworks and reunions to sporting events and a visit from a reality-TV personality, as Pennsylvania College of Technology observed Homecoming 2010.
Pennsylvania College of Technology held several dedication events over the weekend for its Stage X Building Program. Ceremonies took place Friday in the renovated and expanded Avco-Lycoming Metal Trades Center and the Parkes Automotive Technology Center (both facilities were open to the public Saturday) and in the science labs of the Hager Lifelong Education Center.
The dog days of summer took on a new meeting at Pennsylvania College of Technology on Aug. 18, when a unique icebreaker united first-year students with employees and their dogs. Held on the Rose Street Commons, "Hot Dog, You're Here!" provided the opportunity for faculty and staff to welcome and engage new students over the common ground of pet ownership, conversation and free food.
Pennsylvania College of Technology again was a home-field favorite with its community outreach for the start of the Little League Baseball World Series. A college-hosted cookout for the 16 series teams – as well as coaches, team uncles, umpires and other guests – was held on the lawn outside the Bush Campus Center.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, hosts “Full Deck,” a traveling exhibit of skateboard art on loan from the West Coast, through Sept. 22. An opening reception for the exhibit – an extraordinary medley of eye-popping color, unique self-expression and pungent social commentary – was held Thursday, July 22.
Four Penn College automotive students received a heroes’ welcome as their laboratory labor of love – restoration of a 1965 Ford Mustang for public showcase – was officially returned to the Antique Automobile Club of America’s Museum on June 26.
New students and their families attended Connections sessions in June and July, gaining a leisurely orientation to the Penn College campus before the hubbub of fall.
