An automotive restoration technology student scheduled to graduate from Pennsylvania College of Technology in May has received a $1,500 scholarship from the Antique Automobile Club of America. Hallie Krala, of Williamsport, was presented with the Louise Bianchi Chiotti Memorial Scholarship Award during AACA's 82nd annual meeting.

Students in four majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology will benefit from a recent donation by a prominent electrical engineering and automation company. Phoenix Contact delivered approximately $35,500 worth of programmable logic controller components to be integrated into the college’s soon-to-be renovated PLC labs.

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented a Mentorship Award to alumnus Jeremy L. Thorne, owner and operator of ThorneCare Landscape Solutions LLC, in Sugarloaf. The award was bestowed upon Thorne by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour during the Fall 2017 commencement ceremony, held Dec. 16 at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport.

Hundreds of thousands of visitors will soon flock to the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center to celebrate the commonwealth’s leading industry, and Pennsylvania College of Technology students and employees will be on hand for an interactive peek into the real-world applications of “degrees that work.”

An associate professor of aviation at Pennsylvania College of Technology has contributed to an avionics textbook. Thomas D. Inman wrote two of the seven chapters for the Avotek Information Resources-published “Avionics: Instruments and Auxiliary Systems”: Chapter 3, covering Air Traffic Surveillance and Warning, and Chapter 4, focused on Weather and Terrain Awareness Avoidance. Pennsylvania College of Technology recently recognized 13 first-year students who received Penn College NOW scholarships. The recipients completed Penn College courses during high school as part of the college’s Penn College NOW dual-enrollment program. The group was honored during an Oct. 27 reception.

Michael R. Robison, an aviation instructor at Penn College, also happens to be a competitive glider pilot. Robison is a member of the U.S. Soaring Team and will compete for the third time at the World Championships in the Czech Republic this summer.
