Graphic design students had the opportunity Thursday to ask questions about the job search and how the "real world" looks for young graphic design graduates through a Skype conference with 2006 Penn College alumnus Austin Hoyt.
Students in Penn College's graphic communications management major experienced the papermaking process firsthand during a recent tour of the American Eagle Paper Mill in Tyrone. The plant has been in existence formore than 100 years, for much of that time making paper in the traditional way of using wood.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Madigan Library, is hosting " Design: 2010 ," a student portfolio exhibition, through May 14. Twenty students are exhibiting a variety of work they created during their studies toward earning bachelor's degrees in graphic design. An opening reception, including a gallery talk, was held Thursday evening. Gallery hours are 1-4 p.m.

Four first-grade classes from Lyter Elementary School in Montoursville visited labs at Penn College on March 23. The children enjoyed activities in graphic communications laboratories and in the School of Hospitality. They screen-printed T-shirts, twisted pretzels, learned to set tables and practice good table manners, and toured facilities.
