Graphic Design Students Gain Real-World Insight From Graduate
Friday, April 1, 2011
Graphic design students had the opportunity Thursday to ask questions about the job search and how the "real world" looks for young graphic design graduates through a Skype conference with 2006 Penn College alumnus Austin Hoyt. Hoyt, who is a freelance art director for advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather's Manhattan office, wanted to discuss his experiences with all the current graphic design students. "He said he thought our program is one of the best that he knows of, and he is appreciative of his time here," said Brian Flynn, assistant director of graphic design, who arranged the conference. Hoyt shared with students the struggles and successes of working in New York, the prestige of designing for such international brands as Coca-Cola, and tips for the job search.
