All employees are reminded that, with the implementation of the new student/employee ID number system, the collection of Social Security numbers from students and employees is, by policy, prohibited except where required by statute or authorized by President's Council.

Information Technology Services announces the successful completion of the yearlong SSN conversion project. With the cooperation of departments across campus, ITS staff were able to complete the final steps over the holiday break. All online systems that previously used Social Security numbers now use the Penn College ID number as the primary identifier of employees and students.

An associate professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology who has integrated computer- and Web-based technology into his classes has been nominated by the College's Council of Deans for two awards to be presented at the 16th International Conference on College Teaching and Learning. David S. Richards has taught physics and astronomy courses at Penn College since 1995.

William F. Geyer, an assistant professor of building construction technology in the School of Construction and Design Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was among the presenters at the 52nd annual meeting and convention of the Architectural Woodwork Institute.

All employees are reminded that, consistent with Policy III 3.05.05 and except as otherwise provided, use of Pennsylvania College of Technology facilities or equipment and the goods and services produced by College operations may not be used by employees except with the written permission of the area vice presidents supervising the employee and property in question.

Jane R. Arenas, clinical director of the Physician Assistant Program at Pennsylvania College of Technology, wrote an article that was published in the Fall 2004 newsletter of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants.
